J K Rowling is a prolonged over-stretched hype ... a fad that will fade away soon.
Tolkien was and is the real thing ... but of course I realized that only after watching the LOTR movies.

overhyped or not, I like the books and the movies. I am not a crazy fan - in that I do not paint a "lighting shaped scar" in my forehead and wear glasses - when going to watch the movies. But it's fun nevertheless......

JRR Tolkien I tried to read once, but too dense for my little head.

Hey, by the way dalley, have read any of the book? I know you;ve watched the movies...

I hate reading books! But this one wud've made a nice gift for coming valentines coz ur fren 'loors' is as crazy as u r...

hehe, yes it would've made a great valentines gift Smriti, especially for Loors. I suppose he tends to get lost in movies and books sometimes. But his heart is in the right place, and that is what counts! But the book (or even the movie for that matter) does not come out until july, so you have to look for something else. Hey, I just saw an ad - "every kiss begins with kay" - Anyways, happy valentines!

Unfortunately for us Preety has to work on the 14th, so we'll probably end up celebrating valentines on the weekend after. Hehehe, lot of significant memories attached with valentines.......

Thanks n same to u...
Hope yyou have a great one! (though belated) well u dont need no ocassion to celebrate your love!...
I like that add "every kiss begins w/ Kay.." but I don't really care for diamonds!for that matter I am a minimalist.
As for Mr.Loors, yup he lives in a world of movies, books and games..but its okay coz I love movies (not books yuck hehe) but for today he's grieving!!

I would love to sign off as Mrs. Loors but it sounds kinda deceiving hahahahaha!

of course you can sign off as Mrs. Loors, or better yet maybe Loors can sign off as Mr. Smriti.... :D

In fact I have not read any of the Potter books. I have watched 3 movies in the series I think .... and I found the plot to be exactly the same.
25% Magic School scenes - magician kids playing tricks, magician teachers teaching tricks, some young hearts romance etc etc.
25% some big-ass magical competition.
25% the villains' schemes.
25% how harry potter gets into a big trap or big trouble and he gets out using his own or the combined skills of his friend(s).
just change the percentage distribution a bit ... and there u have it ... the formula mix for one potter story/movie after another.

but .... i have been told before by friends and family that I should not judge the book by the movies ... i have been told that if I read the books, I will be hooked ... i have not tried that though .... maybe i don't wanna be hooked.

Well Dalley, if you did not like the movies, I doubt that you'd like the books. The movies do follow the books pretty well.

Now about your formulaic interpretation, one could do that for any book, story ever told. For example JRR Tolkien, 60% War with the Uruk-hai, 20% Hobbits, 2% Gollum, 1% Wizard, and the rest Shire.

Well, let me think, Godfather - Pasta, bang bang, expletive, family, some more bang bang, and a brooding Al Pacino in the end staring at the lake.

And to start with, HP is a childrens story book, so we can hide behind that to explain the simplicity.....

"every kiss begins with Kay"...

who is this slut Kay that i missed, apparently everyon's first kiss seems to be with her? hehehe...what would an unromantic philistine like me would know about diamond?

...and people are already exchaning pointers on up-coming Valentine's Day. Sadly, for me the day only has past memories..poor me. But no matter how cheesy is the day, but certainly gives a chance to celebrate love...

ok, coming back to potter mania...not a big fan...just read two books in the series...have watched all the movies, since they show it on the TV every second day...

it's sad, all the publications are in English, since there is where all the audiences are...sadder part is most of the stories are mostly told my white people and thier stories....

it's not that potter is a bad book, excellent at fantasy...but i am sure there are other regionals stories or talents who can do equal if not better...

no matter how grown up we are, there is child in everyone of us...just last night i was at the Barnes & Nobles reading Comics for almost two hours...
